Who or what was the inspiration for the hero and heroine in your book?
I don’t really recall an actual inspiration for
these characters, although certain traits of theirs or events in the story were
inspired by certain family, people I know, or news events.
I have a soft spot for Amy, the child in this
story.
What is your favorite quote from the book?
Oh my, that’s a hard question.
I think I’d have to choose something Jake says if only because I feel it was
the beginning of Winona’s reemergence out of her grief and into her true
character. He said: “Apparently they don’t think you should be. They both said
if I wanted to find Amy, you were my best bet.”
What's your weirdest writing habit?
I don’t really have writing habits that I
consider weird. I can write in any form or any place with or without music,
with or without light or doors. I don’t have to have things a certain way and
the house can be clean or dirty. I just try to make a habit of getting pen to
paper every day.
How often do you cry while writing?
I’ve never cried while writing, although
finishing the trailer of this particular book almost brought tears to my eyes.
What's your favorite comfort read?
I turn to scripture for comfort when I need it,
because there’s so much action, adventure, and romance involved!
What is the one thing in your book you wouldn’t
have given up no matter how much money someone paid you?
Amy. It wouldn’t have been the same without
Amy.
Did you write yourself into any corners?
I find myself writing myself into corners
often! The joy of a panster!
What kind of research did you do for this book?
Whew, not sure I’d remember all the research I
did for this book. I did so much research I often had to look back over and
double check my research. This story was actually written a couple of years
before it was published, but I researched triathlons, private investigations,
traveling the areas they traveled and many more. I love research and can get
caught up in that and never write the book if I allow myself.
Any advice for aspiring authors?
Write
what you love, what speaks to you, and what you enjoy reading. Don’t ever give
up and don’t waste your time on projects better spent writing (how clean can
your house get, anyway? Oh, the books I could have written if I hadn’t been
wasting my time and being too tired from my full-time job or just being too
scared and down on myself!) Remember that doubt goes with the territory, so
don’t let it win. And mostly … read … a lot!
About the Book
A
recovering alcoholic, Jake Inman has found a new, healthier addiction: training
for his successful triathlon career. But when his manager is murdered and
beloved goddaughter kidnapped, another obsession takes hold: doing whatever it
takes to find Brandon’s killer and keep Amy safe. Jake turns to a private
investigator for help in solving the case, and though he finds temptation in
her whiskey-colored eyes, he knows he must resist his attraction, or risk
losing his heart.
After a
devastating case, Winona Wall has turned her back on her skills as a private
investigator, preferring a quiet life as a part-time bartender. That is, until
Jake storms into the bar, demanding her help in tracking his missing godchild.
Unable to resist Jake’s charm, she reluctantly agrees. But even after Amy is
found unharmed, Jake insists Amy’s mother was more involved with her kidnapping
than the police suspect. When the situation takes a turn for the worse, Winona
must trust her instincts in order to save them all - and avoid falling in love.

About the Author
During

before they learned to read. Ever since then, she hasn't stopped reading or
writing. A certified paralegal, work gives her perfect fodder for her romantic
suspense stories. When not caring for her small farm or spending time with her
husband of two decades, she enjoys creating, reading, and dreaming of the
places she’ll visit one day.
