 Blurb:

Tarago Jakobus was 6’4”, intelligent, extremely wealthy with a Midas touch. He was also openly racist, politically incorrect and a chauvinistic pig who told offensive jokes. He loved to party and was used to women vying for his attention. So when his eyes fell on Tanin, he expected her to just melt into his bed and be grateful that he even looked her way.

To his utter surprise, she was totally unimpressed with his wealth, thought he was an uneducated buffoon and publicly rejected him. Of course he was shocked and humiliated by her response.

But no woman had ever turned Tarago down before, and he found her fascinating. He became obsessed with her and decided to win her over his way – destroy all that is precious to her, so that she would have no choice but to need him. If that didn’t work, he’d switch to plan ‘B’ – take away her freedom and throw her ass in jail. And being the absolute bastard that he was, he did.

Obsessed With Me is a modern-day love story.

Excerpt:

“Tarago, you bought them guns?! Are you crazy?”

“No, I didn’t!” my big fat liar says and looks at his accomplices behind him. “Tell her.”

Sergie looks at the floor. “Eh, no, he …didn’t. No. No. Relax, Tanin.”

Ralph clears his throat. “Yeah, he didn’t buy us guns, Tanin. Relax.”

My uncle shakes his head, a glint in his eyes. “They’re not even loaded, Tanin, relax.”

Uncle Anand? The adult in our family, our rock, the only supposedly sensible one and hater of whites?

And I must relax?

“But we got hollow-points,” he adds, his voice dripping with excitement. “Wanna see? Check this out!”

Before we can answer, he brings out a box of bullets and thrusts it at Aunt Saras.

She takes a step back, a look of horror on her face. “You been drinking, Anand?”

Of course he’s been drinking whisky with Tarago. His face is flushed and his comb-over is disheveled. But, it is Christmas.

Uncle Anand, who is never comfortable with lies, looks at Tarago.

Tarago shakes his head from side to side. A tiny shake.

Uncle Anand turns to her. “No…”

“It’s Christmas,  where do you get guns from?” I quickly ask.

“From my house,” Tarago says. “My collection, remember? I have more than thirty.”

“Thirty?!” my sister, Lima, says. “You serious?”

He nods. “You want one?”

I jerk to look at him. “Tara…go!”

My mother puts her hand over her mouth and chuckles behind it. Thank God my mum has a sense of humour.

Sounds great! I love writers who challenge the status quo and aren't afraid to write what I like to call "anti-romance", where everything's not wine and roses the whole way through. ;)
